Victoria Lawson

Victoria Lawson is a native of Catherine, Al. and although raised in the Missionary Baptist tradition she has since worked in several faith traditions. Most recently she served as the Minister to Youth & College students at a local church in Atlanta.

Victoria is a proud graduate of both Samford University (B.A. Religion) and Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology (M.Div.).

Victoria has immersed herself into her call full-time for the past 6 years. During her time at both Samford & McAfee, she served at local churches & nonprofits connecting churches to resources within their communities. She is passionate about serving children, teens, and young adults and seeing where the Divine in them connects with the Divine in her.

Victoria has volunteered with the Young Life Ministry over the past 5 years (Birmingham Urban East & Young Lives ATL). Victoria also has a previous unit of CPE from St. Luke’s Training & Counseling Center in Atlanta & is excited about this current residency within the UAB family.

Victoria loves spending time with her family. When she isn’t singing or preaching when she can, you might find her writing. Her Blog, Journeys on Purpose celebrates the joys and obstacles of navigating the world as a Young Black Woman. In August of 2020, she released her first book, Read This If You’re Discouraged, a 31-day devotional designed to encourage believers & help them navigate the obstacles of daily life.

Victoria’s mantra is, “Wherever you go, whatever you do, don’t forget to make the journey on purpose.”
