Moneka Thompson

Moneka A. Thompson was born in Montgomery, AL, and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She received her BS in Criminal Justice from Alabama State University, her MS in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery, and her Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary, in Salisbury, NC.

She is an Ordained Elder in the AME Zion denomination and has also served as an AME Zion pastor.

She completed her CPE training, both Internship and Residency, with Emory University Center for Pastoral Services, Atlanta, GA (2008), and is a Board Certified Chaplain with The Association of Professional Chaplains.

She began her employment with UAB Health System as the Oncology Chaplain in March 2009.

Moneka is the Staff Chaplain for The Kirklin Clinic and she is assigned to Gynecology/Oncology and Hematology/Oncology for inpatients.
