About UAB Pastoral Care

Candle-single-burningWe care for the whole person–body, mind, and spirit at UAB Hospital, UAB Highlands, The Kirklin Clinic, or at home.

As professional board certified Chaplains, we offer care and compassion to you regardless of your faith background. Listening and walking alongside you in your journey while you are our guest is what we do best. We nurture and pay attention to your inner resources that can provide hope, meaning, and healing even in the most challenging of times.

We believe the future of healthcare chaplaincy is patient and family centered care, whether you are in the hospital, doctor’s office, or at home.

Our Mission

Our mission is to offer compassionate, professional pastoral care in the hospital and outpatient clinic for patients, family members, significant others, and employees at UAB.

We carry out our mission through three channels of ministry:

  • Building Relationships – We visit one-on-one with patients, family members, and employees in the hospital and outpatient settings.
  • Providing Education – We provide education in the community through Support Team development, Psychosocial Spiritual Grand Rounds, Schwartz Grand Rounds, worship/prayer services in the hospital, and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) to train future pastoral caregivers.
  • Developing Research – We want to measure the effectiveness of what we do with you as a patient, family member, or employee.

Please give us your feedback or your comments here.  We want to improve and serve you better.
