Grand Rounds

WHAT:  Psychosocial Spiritual Grand Rounds is an interdisciplinary gathering that discusses topics related to spirituality and healthcare, as well as how a patient’s health is impacted by considering a person’s psychological, social, and spiritual needs.  It is offered free of charge to UAB Hospital employees and the public.

WHEN: Second Tuesday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) from 12-1 pm.

  • May 14, 2019:  Recovery, One Story at a Time, Regi Carpenter
  • July 9, 2019:  Heart Math:  How We’re REALLY Connected, Erika Jobes
  • September 10:  What Andy Griffith Teaches Us About Compassion and Understanding, Win Schepps, MSW.
  • November 12:  My Journey with Alzheimer’s: From “Why Me” to “What Next,” Cynthia Huling Hummel, D.Min.

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.  No reservations are needed, and there is no cost.  Open to employees and the general public.

Our mission is to prepare persons to offer holistic care that includes meeting emotional and spiritual needs for patients and families.

WHERE:  Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium at UAB Hospitalon the corner of 19th ST South and 7th Avenue South at UAB (620 19th ST S, Birmingham, AL).

COST.  Free and lunch is provided for the first 150 persons who arrive.  UAB Pastoral Care coordinates the program.

CEUs hours are offered for social workers, chaplains, physicians, and nurses who are in attendance.
