A Prayer for Healthcare Workers

An unusual site in the hallways of UAB Hospital on March 22, 2020 at 5pm.

On this day we pray for all of our brothers and sisters who work in healthcare.

We are grateful for Teresa and DeAnthony in Environmental Services, keep them safe as they clean and disinfect our hospital hallways and rooms.

Lord, hear our prayer.

We give thanks for Shelia and Angela, skilled Administrative Assistants who help us with overwhelming details that we need to track daily.

Lord hear our prayer.

We lift up Nathan and Delores in Guest Services who are dealing with the anxiety of families on the phone, and in person.

Lord hear our prayer.

We celebrate Annie and Sue Ella in Food Services who serve us daily with a smile.

Lord hear our prayer.

We ask that you keep Chaplains Treasure and Ben encouraged as they share their non-anxious presence with patients and employees to bring peace in the chaos.

Lord hear our prayer.

Help us not to take for granted Carol and Gina, nurses who always walk towards the need and never away from it.

Lord hear our prayer.

We ask for your divine help for Rebecca and Ragan in the hospital’s Supply Chain who are desperately searching for medical supplies in our nation and world.

Lord, hear our prayer.

We ask that you give strength and courage to James and Bill, Sarah and Marjorie Lee, as physicians who guide us with wisdom and courage on the frontlines of the pandemic.

Lord hear our prayer.

Give guidance and rest to our leaders Anthony, Laura, and Will, and those you have been prepared for days such as this.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Finally we pray for every person in a hospital who wears an ID badge. Give them hope, strength, and peace for their tasks and days ahead.

Amen.
